This one separates the pros from the rest of us!
The West Coast Championship Series consists of 3 races this weekend that will build points for those racing teams advancing toward competing in the Pre-Worlds in Costa Rica in 2010. The other qualifying races this week are the West Coast Championship Sprint and Slalom events. All three West Coast Championship series races are sponsored by Sotar.
The rafters equivalent to Nascar, the West Coast Championship Downriver Race begins at Fish Creek and ends just below Toilet Bowl rapid. From beginning to end there will be no stopping as the racers pound down the river.
On Sunday the head-to-head Sprint Race starts at Armstrong Bridge and ends at Carter Bridge. This is side by side, paddle pounding competition.
The final race of the series is the Slalom. Here the teams take on Carter Falls and the gates.
Oregon's own Oregon Rafting Team (ORT), the Pro-Guides and several other teams from around the west will be racing in these seriously competitive events.
